How do World Animal Gifts work?

There are four easy steps:

1. Visit and choose your gift(s).

2. Make your choice on which card you would like to receive (eCard, PDF download, physical print card) and add to your gift basket. Please note there is a $5 card for physical cards.

3. Personalize your card(s) and enter your recipient’s details.

4. Send your gift(s). 

Where does the money go?

World Animal Protection has been improving the lives of animals for more than 50 years. We help end the suffering of animals in communities, disasters, on farms and in the wild. We influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda and inspire people to change animals’ lives for the better. 

Every gift you give through World Animal Gifts is a symbolic contribution which will help animal welfare programs around the world. Your donation will be used where it is needed the most as we strive to create a world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty has ended.

Will I get a tax receipt for my gift?

Yes! As you’re supporting a Canadian registered charity, your donation is tax deductible. Your tax receipt will be sent to you by email. If you do not have an email address, we can send you a tax receipt by mail. Animal Protector monthly donors receive one tax receipt in February.

How do I track the World Animal Gift purchases I’ve made?

Why is there a $5 charge for a print card?

There is a $5 charge to cover postage, production costs, shipping, handling and administration. 

How quickly will my recipient get their eCard?

If you choose to send your eCard immediately, your recipient will receive the eCard via email soon after you order your gift. If you choose a specific date, your eCard will be sent to the recipient’s inbox on the specified date. You will receive a notification by email once the eCard you sent has been viewed.

How do Group Gifts work?

Group gifts are a great way for people to collectively raise funds to help protect animals around the world. Whether you choose to start a group gift to celebrate a birthday, wedding or other special occasion, you’ll be making a lasting impact for animals who need your help more than ever. 

Step 1: Choose a gift from the group gift collection, set a date and create your fundraiser.

Step 2: Reach out to your family, friends and networks to help you get your gift funded.

Step 3: Once your gift is fully funded, an eCard will be sent to you or to the person you've designated, on the day you selected. If you're gift isn't fully funded by the date you set, don't worry, it will get sent as soon as the gift is funded. Don't forget to thank everyone who contributed!

Is an account required to create a group gift?

Yes. It helps to prevent spam and we also require email validation.

How does a group gift creator edit his/her Group Gift?

You will see a link to "Edit" if you are logged in. In addition, logged in users will now see a "Group Gifts" tab on your Account page, which also gives you the ability to view and edit your Group Gift.

Is an event date required for a Group Gift?

Yes. An event date is needed to schedule ecards if a Group Gift creator has specified a gift recipient.

Is an account required to donate towards Group Gift?


What happens when the Group Gift goal is reached?

Once the goal is reached, people will no longer be able to contribute towards the gift.

What happens if the Group Gift is not fully funded by the event day?

People will still be able to donate. If a Group Gift creator has configured an eCard to deploy, it will NOT be send until the gift is fully funded.
